Hi there! I'm Kristy, the owner of Wild Empress Cattery. Being with animals has always been a passion of mine. Growing up on a farm with dogs, cats, bunnies, horses, cows and pigs allowed me to form relationships with many furry friends. I have always felt like animals share a special bond with humans. 

In 2001, I moved to Edmonton to study to become an elementary school teacher. I earned my Bachelor of Education degree from the University of Alberta. Shortly after, my husband and I decided to start a family. After having 3 boys in the span of 4 years, I've been a full-time stay at home mama! This gives me the freedom to spend tons of time with my kids, cats and dogs!

I've been the guardian of many cats over years but once I discovered the Maine Coon, I knew I had to have one! I was drawn to their large physique, beautiful flowing neck ruff and lynx tips that give them that "wild" factor. The confident, yet sweet nature of this breed has made them an ideal pet for our family.

The absolute most important factor to me is breeding healthy and well-tempered cats. Our goal is to focus on health first, because we want our cats to live out long, happy lives. We are registered with The International Cat Association (TICA) and use their standards to guide our breeding program. Our breeding cats are genetically tested for diseases and are veterinarian checked regularly to maintain maximum health. 

Wild Empress is a young cattery located in our country home in Strathcona County, Alberta. We raise our kittens right in our home with us. This allows them to be part of the family and become well-socialized with our loud, busy household. This helps the kittens  confidence and also allows them to be comfortable with people picking them up and snuggling them!
